The Department of Zoology was established in 1985  along with the college. Initially, it had two teaching positions and one museum keeper, totalling 3 sanctioned posts, offering a three-year B.Sc. (BZC) program in both English and Telugu mediums. Currently, there is one permanent lecturer in the department. The faculty members are well-qualified, talented, experienced, and dedicated to their duties. The department boasts a well-equipped lab with sufficient glassware, equipment, instruments, and chemicals. The syllabus is framed by the affiliated university and followed each academic year. Additionally, the department offers certificate courses to help students gain skills for self-employment or entrepreneurship.

Participation in Institutional, Social Responsibility, and Extension Activities:

The faculty actively participates in institutional responsibilities, assisting in increasing student admissions and supporting administration through various committees. Sri G Damodara Rao is a member of the IQAC. As part of social responsibility, faculty members engage in public awareness activities on communicable diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Covid-19, Malaria, Dengue, and Amoebiasis by organizing seminars and rallies. Students are encouraged to participate in these programs.

The department participates in various extension activities through NSS and RRC, including clean and green initiatives, Swachh Bharat, blood donation drives, and community service programs.
