ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Botany was established in September 1985 with 2 sanctioned posts (1 Regular & 1 Budget) offering B.Sc (CBZ) as main course along with B.Sc (BZH) and B.Sc (Seed Technology). The department is staffed with experienced faculty members who are experts in their respective fields of botany. These faculty members are actively involved in research and often publish their work in peer-reviewed journals. They also supervise undergraduate research projects, providing students with valuable research experience.

Botany is one of the major departments in our college which is committed to the development of academic excellence in teaching through latest technologies. Botany Department has one equipped with state-of-the-art laboratory facilitiesthat allow students to conduct experiments and research in plant biology, 3 class rooms and a botanical garden with some trees, ornamentals, medicinal plants, timber and fruit yielding plants. The Department of Botany provides quality education, awareness on competitive examinations, CET exams and moral education for personality development.

The Botany Department is following the CBCS pattern and the Curriculum is designed by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. There is more demand for CBZ group and more than 100 students are admitted every year. The girl students are being admitted more in number rather than the boys in every year.

For every semester, the students are provided with study material. Guest lectures are being delivered by reputed academicians for difficult and important topics. The department organizes awareness programs on Health and environment, science exhibitions, research and social service activities.

Field trips and excursions are an integral part of the Botany Department's curriculum. These trips allow students to observe plants in their natural habitats and learn about their ecological roles. They also provide students with the opportunity to collect plant specimens for study.A degree in Botany opens up a wide range of career opportunities for graduates. Graduates can pursue careers in areas such as agriculture, forestry, environmental conservation, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. They can also pursue further studies in botany or related fields.
