VISION:

 

The vision of the department is to develop the department as a center for academic excellence through teaching and learning that encourages and nurtures literary sensibilities and language competence of the students.

 

MISSION:

The mission of the department is to inculcate a strong desire to learn and use Telugu for all personal and professional use.

 

To impart academic knowledge, employability skills as well as strong ethical values though language and literature.

 

To encourage the students to read literary and nonliterary texts in order to improve the four language skills i.e. Listening Speaking, Reading and Writing.

 

To employ innovative techniques   and provide additional inputs as per the ever changing requirements of the job market.

 

To encourage the students to write something on their own in Telugu.

 

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT

 

  • Exposure to Telugu through Reading Skills

 

 

  • To make the students read and understand the written texts of all jargon available online and offline both formal and informal varieties to focus on the grammar and usage, vocabulary and sentence construction.

 

  • Using Telugu through Speaking Skills

To make the students practice Good speaking skills and use these skills competently in all the required everyday situations and contexts with a special emphasis on functional and colloquial aspects.

  • Using Telugu through writing

To write letters, articles and stories etc in meaningful and cultural aspects correct Telugu and usage duly following the writing nuances of unity.

  •  Passion for literature

To develop passion among the students for Telugu literature by the win means of language through literature and literature through language. 

INTRODUCTION:

Telugu is a Dravidian language. It has reached the position as a language of international communication. In degree colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh, it is studied as the first language. Studying English language and literature will help a lot for one life to grow as a citizen. Opportunities of employment will become easier for English users. Hence, it is mandatory for the students to learn English for a better career and better livelihood.

 

About the Department:The Department of Telugu was established in the year 1985, with the establishment of the college.   As the first language, the language of Telugu is prescribed for all programs as a compulsory subject.   The students’ intake is 1356 per year.  The department has continually been striving for excellence in teaching and learning.  Faculty members of the department are highly qualified, dedicated to motivate the students and make them respect and hold our culture and literature the faculty members lay emphasis on inclusion of modern teaching technologies viz. LCDs, digital and virtual modes of teaching.  The department has the history of producing hundreds of human resources over the past years.
